Have a seat and let me tell you about the least stressful family photography session you’ll ever experience.
There was a popular meme going around recently,
it was a beautiful image of a family at sunset in impeccable clothing, leaning lovingly into one another. It was accompanied by some text that read; "WHAT REALLY WENT DOWN: 15 trips to Old Navy. SO. MUCH. SWEATING. A super annoyed spouse. Children losing their freaking minds. And mom cursing like Samuel L. Jackson". Yeah. That sounds fun.
Family photos are often extremely stressful. You have to find a photographer, figure out stylish coordinating outfits, do hair/makeup/etc, beg your spouse to wear the outfit you bought them, suffer through tantrums and eyerolls and eventually bribe the little ones with candy. It usually ends in tears.

Family documentary photography is the opposite of that. It's your family being themselves, wearing whatever they want, being who they are. Running errands and playing in playgrounds. Boisterous wrestling and tender snuggles. Uncontrollable laughter and earthshaking tantrums. Through the joy and the struggle, real life is beautiful.
